1. Prepare the Ingredients
Wash the ginger root and slice it into thin rounds.
Rinse the mint leaves if you plan to use them.
2. Boil the Infusion Base
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
Add the sliced ginger and whole cloves.
Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer gently for 15–20 minutes so the spices can release their flavors into the water.
3. Add Optional Ingredients
If desired, add the lemon slices and mint leaves during the last 5 minutes of simmering.
This adds a light citrus brightness and a refreshing herbal aroma.
4. Strain the Infusion
Remove the saucepan from heat and strain the liquid into a teapot, mug, or heat-safe bottle to remove the ginger slices and cloves.
5. Sweeten and Serve
Stir in honey if you prefer a slightly sweet taste.
Serve the infusion hot for a soothing herbal tea or allow it to cool and store it in the refrigerator for later.
Servings
This recipe yields about 4 cups, enough for 2–4 servings, depending on portion size.
